Kia Motors is rapidly transitioning towards becoming a future-oriented mobility firm through the integration of sophisticated software vehicles and artificial intelligence-based manufacturing processes. Kia Motors aims to deploy humanoid robots at its U.S. plants by 2029 while concurrently advancing SDVs.

Kia’s Daring Move Towards Software Defined Cars
At the heart of this move is the adoption of software-defined cars, a concept that is gaining popularity in the automotive sector worldwide. As per the plans of the organization, Kia will be able to finish developing its first software-defined car by 2027, which would feature Level 2 autonomous driving features on highways. A better version of the software-defined car that can drive through normal roads is anticipated to arrive by 2029.

Software-Defined Vehicles as a Source of Repeated Revenue Streams
Software-defined vehicles are now being regarded as one of the most significant growth opportunities for the automotive industry as a whole. According to forecasts, the market size may exceed $1 trillion during the upcoming decade due to customer preference for vehicles that are connected, customizable, and constantly evolving. In relation to Kia, the approach will allow for repeated revenue generation as well as lower maintenance expenses by means of predictive diagnostics and remote software upgrades.

Humanoid Robots as a Way to Revolutionize U.S. Manufacturing until 2029
In addition to software, Kia will utilize humanoid robots, in particular the Atlas robot created by Boston Dynamics, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Company. Initially assigned routine tasks, the robots will eventually be able to perform more complicated and valuable activities as a result of their training through artificial intelligence.

AI and Automation Lead Efficiency and Safety Objectives
In order to facilitate innovations, Kia is committing more than $500 million to the development of physical AI technology, such as vision-language-action frameworks. Furthermore, in line with its plans, the automaker is partnering with NVIDIA Corporation and DeepMind. These initiatives will greatly contribute to achieving manufacturing automation and car intelligence objectives.

Reducing EV Objectives while Adding More Hybrids
Despite decreasing its EV objectives a bit, Kia is adding more hybrids to its lineup and adapting its sales plan accordingly. Currently, the organization is trying to keep up with the growing market demands in regard to hybrids while also continuing its expansion among EVs.

Global Sales Target Revised for the New Reality
The automaker has also revised its global sales objective to be 4.13 million cars, with an emphasis placed on sales in the U.S. and India. Moreover, with software-defined vehicles becoming essential within its business model, Kia is prepared to participate actively in the new automotive industry environment.
