The beloved Treat Dreams Ice Cream Shop Ferndale is undergoing a major transformation. Located at 22965 Woodward Avenue, the popular dessert spot will soon become a vibrant food hall called The Pavilion, slated to open in early 2026. The 4,000-square-foot venue will blend the spirit of a community market, pop-up space, and restaurant incubator — all under one roof.
Owner Scott Moloney shared with Deadline Detroit that The Pavilion will feature six food stalls, including the existing ice cream shop, along with a rotating guest vendor each month. “It will be one part street market, one part pop-up space with a 40-person pop-up space in the rear of the store,” Moloney explained. “And then it will be one part restaurant incubator — that’s where the rotating stall comes in.”
Fans of the Treat Dreams Ice Cream Shop Ferndale can rest easy: the shop will remain open during construction, according to The Detroit News.
Local Chefs and Creative Concepts Join The Pavilion
The Pavilion promises to become a culinary hub for the Ferndale community, bringing together innovative chefs and creative food concepts. Among the highlights:
· Chef Josie Clemens, known from Hell’s Kitchen, will serve travel-inspired vegan cuisine.
· Chef Jared Bobkin, also an Hell’s Kitchen alumnus, will offer an Asian-inspired restaurant focusing on flavorful dumplings.
· A nonalcoholic beverage bar, Cosmic Roots, will be run by musician Emily Infinity and herbalist Isabel Cali, serving kava, botanicals, and craft coffee.
· The Venezuelan food truck Papelon, based in St. Clair Shores, will bring its famous arepas to the new food hall.
“They’ve popped up at Urbanrest before and have a great following in Ferndale,” Moloney noted. “We’re not going to take ourselves too seriously,” he added, emphasizing the casual and creative energy The Pavilion aims to foster.
Pop-Up Events Before The Pavilion Opens
Before The Pavilion officially launches, the Treat Dreams Ice Cream Shop Ferndale will host a series of pop-up events to give locals a preview of what’s to come. The first one, by Gina Onyx’s Komodo Kitchen, is scheduled for November 7–8, offering food lovers a chance to experience the evolving culinary space firsthand.
Details for future pop-ups and updates about The Pavilion’s construction will be shared on Treat Dreams’ social media pages. While the shop has not yet posted an official announcement on its website, anticipation is already building across Ferndale.
A Sweet Evolution for a Ferndale Favorite
